Lower Dolpo lies in western Himalaya region of Nepal. The inhabitants of Dolpo are mainly Tibetans, thus, the region is rich in ethnic Buddhist culture and arts. The abundance of Himalayan wildlife, including; Musk Deer, Himalayan Blue Sheep and endangered species of Snow Leopard makes lower Dolpo trek, an unforgettable experience.

Take on a journey to lower Dolpo,  you will be crossing through large forests,  deserted gorges and impressive high deserts. Dolpo might be a long and less frequented itinerary, but the extraordinary route & customs of the Dolpo region fascinates you to visit this arid region.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu


  • TIA to Kathmandu city, pickup
  • Kathmandu hotel check-in
  • Trek preparation & meet-up with guide

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing


  • Visit UNESCO World heritage site- Boudhanath Pashupatinath, the monkey temple Swayambhunath
  • Explore city streets & traditional crafts such as pottery and weaving.

Day 3: Fly From Kathmandu - Nepalgunj & Transfer To Hotel


  • Morning  flight to western Nepal
  • Bird-eye view of  Terai hamlet Nepalgunj

Day 4: Flight Nepalgunj-Juphal, walk to Dunai


  • Quick Flight to Jhupal
  • Beautiful view of snow-capped mountains
  • Hike down over a small path with wheat & vegetable farm
  • Follow Thuli Bheri River

Day 5: Dunai to Lingdo


  • Walk-in a beautiful mountain landscape
  • Walk along with the Dotted pine trees
  • Witness Snowcapped Kang Tokal(6294m)
  • Pass by Buddhist Village Byasgar(2427m)
  • Reach Lingdo village, a small village with one guest house

Day 6: Lingdo to Laina Odar


  • Pass By Dho Tarap, a traditional village, surrounded by fields.
  • Pass by several mani walls and small Chortens.
  • Steep climb over Thuli Bheri River till suspension bridge.
  • Reach Laisicap, another side of the bridge
  • Hike 3 hours to Laina Odar (3370 m) past Laisicap

Day 7: Laina Odar to Nawarpani


  • Climb up 45 minutes to reach Nawarpani
  • Forested path dotted with pine trees

Day 8: Nawarpani (3475 m) to Sisaul


  • Walk in the river valley towering high rocks
  • Walk along the barren landscape
  • Walkthrough carved rock path

Day 9: Sisaul (3750 m) to Dho Tarap


  • Pass through Dry landscapes, no more trees
  • Discover the Enchanting valley
  • Cross many mani walls and small Chortens
  • Explore Dho Tarap,  a traditional village, surrounded by fields.
  • Get indulge in the culture of Magar and the local Dolpo people

Day 10: Dho Tarap (3944 m) -Numala Base Camp


  • Pass-Through beautiful gate Chorten past Dho
  • Pass by crystal mountain school
  • Views of the north face of Dhaulagiri Mastiff (8,167m)
  •  Discover Tokyu village (4209 m), highest permanent settlement in the world.
  • Steep climb over grassy land to Numala Base Camp

Day 11: Numala Base Camp (4440 m) to Danigar via Numa La


  • Strenuous climb to Numa La(5318m)
  • Catch the stunning view from the pass on countless snow capped mountains.
  • Views of Annapurna & Manaslu Range

Day 12: Danigar (4631m) to Yak Kharka (3982m) via Baga La


  • Pass by zigzag trail pas Panklanga Khola
  • Excellent view on the Norbung Kang and the Baga La range.
  • Appealing views of snow capped mountains like Kanjirowa and Shey Shikhar
  • Walk in the stunning scenery of huge rocks
  • Catch beautiful waterfalls  en route

Day 13: Yak Kharka (3982 m) to Ringmo/Phoksundo Lake


  • Take time to mesmerize the beauty of Phoksundo Lake

Day 14: Phoksundo Lake (3733 m) to Chhepka (2838 m) via Rechi


  • Hike through beautiful pine forests
  • Steeper climbs & descends along the way
  • Stop by Rechi, a camping spot
  • Hike through bamboo forests and walnut trees till Chhepka village

Day 15: Chhepka (2838 m) to Juphal


  • Pass-Through forested path alongside the river
  • On reaching Shyatna village, hike through a dry landscape
  • Witness views of Dhaulagiri Range
  • Discover villages Of Sangta (2520 m) and Kageni (2413 m)
  • Navigate through Shey Phoksundo National Park 
  • Cross suspension bridge, Dhim Bridge
  • Past Bridge, Chase trail to jhupal

Day 16: Flight Juphal-Nepalgunj-Kathmandu


  • Morning flight to Jhupal & Then To Nepaljung
  • Rest for a while & then head back to Kathmandu
