Better known as Island Peak, Imja Tse is one of the most popular trekking peaks of the Everest Region. At a height of 6,189m Imja Tse summit was first climbed in 1956 from then Island Peak is the most commonly climbed “trekking peaks” in Nepal.
The Island peak climbing itinerary is suited for all-mountain lovers as it combines with the popular Everest base camp trek. The route follows trekking tour through beautiful Sherpa villages, breathtaking scenery, Buddhist temples & of course the mighty Everest.

Scaling for Island Peak summit is a sheer adventure and a big achievement for novice climbers who aim to summit higher peaks including Everest in the future.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Activities:

  • TIA to Kathmandu city, pickup
  • Kathmandu hotel check-in

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing

Activities:

  • Visit UNESCO World heritage site- Boudhanath Pashupatinath, the monkey temple Swayambhunath
  • Explore city streets & traditional crafts such as pottery and weaving.

Day 3: Flight To Lukla & Hike to Pakhding

Activities:

  • Scenic Kathmandu-Lukla Flight
  • Discussion & meeting With Porters
  • Follow Through The Dudh Koshi Valley
  • Witness Buddhist shrines, prayer flags along the way

Day 4: Phakding - Namche Bazar

Activities:

  • The crossing of several rivers
  • Pass-Through high Suspension bridges including popular
  • Hillary bridge
  • Walkthrough beautiful rhododendrons, giant firs and magnolia trees
  • Enter the Sagarmatha National Park
  • Catch glimpse of Everest, Nuptse-Lhotse

Day 5: Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar

Activities:

  • Warm-up walks to the sherpa museum to acclimatize in high altitude.
  • A glimpse of Sherpa culture & their long mountaineering history
  • Optional hike to the Sherpa villages of Khunde and Khumjung (3,800m)
  • Promising views of Everest & its neighbours.

Day 6: Namche Bazar - Tengboche

Activities: 

  • Steep river crossings
  • Explore small settlement of Phunki Tenga (3,250m)

  • Panoramic view of mountains including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam.

Day 7: Tengboche - Dingboche

Activities:

  • Walk downhill through coniferous trees, birches and rhododendrons
  • Cross a wooden bridge of Imja Khola
  • Walk beautifully carved walls
  • Visit Pangboche (3,900m), the highest settlement
  • Promising views of Ama Dablam, the ridge of Nuptse-Lhotse, Taboche and Cholatse.

Day 8: Dingboche- Lobuche

Activities:

  • Gradual uphill Climb
  • Walk mostly on the leveled trail through yak herders shelters
  • Discover Dugh-La Pass 4620m,  the memorials of famous climbers who lost their lives during Everest Expedition
  • Views of Mt. Lobuche, Mt. Pumori and the Nuptse

Day 9: Lobuche- Gorak Shep (5,160m) - Everest Base Camp Excursion (5,320m)

Activities: 

  • Catch the glacial moraines of Mt. Pumori to Gorakshep
  • Less stressful walk on the levelled trail
  • Steep climbing and scrambling
  • Trek on the glacial moraines extended from Khumbu Icefall

Day 10: Gorak Shep - Kala Pattar - Pheriche

Activities:

  • A steep climb up Kalapathar the highest point of the trek
  • Sunrise and the views of Everest, Lhotse-Kala Pattar vantage point

Day 11: Pheriche- Chhukung

Activities:

  • Take a smooth way till Dingboche
  • Hike Till Chhukung

Day 12: Island Peak Base Camp (5,200m)

Activities:

  • Climb steeply up to the south
  • The trail towards Chhukung Valley
  • Pass-Through Imja and Lhotse glacier moraines

Day 13: Island High Camp (5,600m)

Activities:

  • Pack the camping stuff & hike towards the high camp
  • Fix crampons on your climbing boots and re-check the entire climbing gears
  • Some crucial last-minute briefing

Day 14: Island Peak summit (6,189m) & return to Chhukung, 8-10 hours

Activities:

  • Start early morning climb
  • Walkthrough short rock steps
  • Achieve island peak, Enjoy superlative views of mightiest mountains
  • Descend to Chhukung

Day 15: Chhukung to Tyangboche

Activities:

  • Retrace our steps back to the followed route
  • Cross the river and an hour walk up through the forest to reach Tyangboche.

Day 16: Tyangboche- Namche (3,440m/11,283ft), 4-5 hrs

Day 17: Namche to Lukla

Activities:

Day 18: Lukla- Kathmandu

Day 19: Departure from Kathmandu
